Brazilian commerce platform Ebanx has partnered with fintech Pagaleve to introduce buy now, pay later functionality within the country's Pix instant payment infrastructure. The integration allows Brazilian consumers to split purchases into instalments while merchants receive immediate settlement through Pix rails.

For direct-acquiring PSPs and card-not-present merchants, this signals an important evolution in Latin America's alternative payment landscape. Pix has already captured massive market share since its 2020 launch, and layering BNPL onto that rail creates a compelling challenger to traditional card-based instalment schemes. Merchants operating in iGaming, subscriptions, crypto on-ramps, and other high-velocity verticals need payment stacks that support diverse local methods—not just cards. This move underscores why orchestration platforms that unify cards, instant payments, and flexible financing options deliver better approval rates and lower cart abandonment, particularly in markets where credit card penetration remains below global averages.

As Brazil continues to innovate at the intersection of instant payments and consumer credit, PSPs with robust multi-APM capabilities and smart routing will be best positioned to capture cross-border and domestic CNP flows.
